Non-Executive Opportunities
There are currently non-executive roles available within the following NHS bodies.
Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) are now at the centre of the NHS and control 80 per cent of the total NHS budget. They are responsible for assessing local health needs and commissioning services from GPs, local hospitals, private hospitals or community services such as district nurses and other homecare providers to meet those needs.
NHS Trusts are the local hospital, ambulance service, or mental health provider. They provide wide ranging services to patients that are paid for the PCTs and ensure that hospitals spend their money efficiently whilst still providing high quality health care.
Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) are responsible for performance managing and setting the strategic direction of the NHS locally. They support PCTs and other NHS organisations and ensure they are performing efficiently.
Please note preference will be given to people who actually live within the area that is served by the organisation.
The closing date for receipt of applications for each post is stated on the sheet outlining the specific qualities for that post (please note the dates do vary for different posts)
